ECL provides care and support services in Essex, Havering and West Sussex, supporting thousands of people to live Person-centred care entails granting patients both rights and responsibilities concerning their own care. Consequently health care has to see the patient as an active and responsible partner. This does not mean that the patient becomes a “customer”, to whom health care is required to deliver care entirely according to their specification. In health care, person-centered care is where the patients actively participate in their own medical treatment in close cooperation with the health professionals.

It is the key to the new Aged Care Quality Standards by the Royal Commission, which came into Person-centred Care Delivering person-centred care is a strategic priority for NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government. Working in partnership with people who use health and social care services, their families and carers, to deliver care which meets their needs, is a vital part of achieving our 2020 vision for Health and Social Care.
